This handmade needlepoint pillow shows the strong featured Ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus Calchicus). They are found from New England to California (mostly in the northern tier of states) with a major concentration in the Dakotas. State bird of South Dakota. They were first introduced to the U.S. in 1857 and are native to Asia. The females are easily confused for a Grouse.
